WHO WE ARE
Here at It Takes A Village, we know that sometimes all it takes is a "hand up" in order to help someone out.  We believe a "hand-up" is better than a "hand-out". Since we started serving the community after the murder of George Floyd,  we have been determined to make an impact to the adults and children living in this neighborhood.  It is our passion to create a positive change in this Northside neighborhood through food distribution and youth development.

Reinforcing our Commitment
Food insecurity is a rising problem in our city. Part of our mission is to provide a bag of food and essentials to anyone in need. It is often times hard for people to ask for help or find the nearest food shelf in their neighborhood. It Takes a Village provides temporary relief without asking questions. We are here to support adults and children in need.
Donations we are collecting include: Canned foods, canned protein, rice, pasta, breakfast items, water, diapers, wipes, formula, personal hygiene essentials, toilet paper.
Items we cannot collect are: Any perishable foods.

INVESTING IN OUR YOUTH
At It Takes a Village, we are dedicated to serving the youth that live in the neighborhood.  Our goal is to be a part of the change to help our students in low income households to be at or above grade level in school.  Our approach offers mentorship, tutoring, and a place of community for our kids to thrive. Through community involvement, we strive to make a difference in the lives of our students that join our program.

The founder Dyonyca Conley, otherwise known by everyone as "Mrs. D", is the heart and soul of It Takes a Village.
